Forever Since I Updated

Strawberry Hermit Crab - perlatus

Rob and I purchased our first home last month, since then we have moved and life has been very hectic. We are enjoying our first weekend of “down time” in our new house and I thought it was a fine time to update the blog. You can see pictures of the new house here http://www.robinsblog.com/gallery/.

I rented a small pick up truck to do my own moving; I knew that I would want to start moving boxes the day that we took possession of the house, Friday, August 12. Since Rob was working that day, I knew that he wouldn’t have as much time or be in the mood to do as much moving as me. ;) I packed up the truck Friday morning with boxes from the kitchen and sat impatiently waiting for the phone call that the house had registered and I could pick up the keys. At 12:50 p.m. the call finally came and my girlfriend and I took our packed trucks to the new house.

Over the last month that we lived in our old house we adopted a stray cat. Well, actually he adopted us. He was skinny and covered in fleas. Friday afternoon I took him to the vet and he got some advantage, a cortisone shot because of all of the sores from fleas on his butt, all the feline tests, and his nails clipped. He moved into the new house with us and is loving it. This is Puddin.

Puddin the cat

As you can see he’s quite comfy and has adapted to being an indoor cat quite well.

The crab tanks were essentially the first major thing that I moved. I did a deep clean of the tanks on the Friday night before I went to bed; I found one fresh molter and one molter who didn’t make it (RIP Oreo). The fresh molter went into a KK with substrate and his exo; he’s fine now and back in the main tank. The rest of the crabs went into a large plastic tub with paper towels as substrate, vines, shells, and food and water. The straws went into my 10 gallon ISO. The two big tanks were put in the back of the truck and Saturday morning I moved the tanks and the crabs to the new home. I setup the tanks and moved the crabs back into their homes.
