Fresh Ruggie

Freshly Molted Rugosus Hermit Crab - Canon 10D

I’ve had a molting frenzy going on in my tank. Most have been very successful like the little ruggie, Cocoa Puff, above.

Unfortunately, one of my little E’s didn’t fair so well. I found him in my tank with only two walking legs and one eye. He’s got spunk, I thought he was a goner for sure, but I put him in ISO and waited for the shell to move and it did! At first I thought it was my eyes, but then it flipped upside down. He crawled out of his shell and tried to get into another shell, but wasn’t successful.

He was trying to eat and drink, but he’s been pretty stationary for a while now. I don’t know if he’s going to make it. He was my most visible Ecuadorian in my tank, he didn’t run like the others.

I was talking to Julia Crab today, speculating a bit on what may have happened, but she reminded me that we just don’t know enough about these creatures.

After getting a break from the HCA site move I decided to finally “dress-up” this site. I have wanted to get away from the pre-canned theme that I had been using for quite some time, but I never found the time to do it. Today I made the time (hey, it was so much better than the housework I had planned!) and I’m pretty happy with the overall look. It’s always fun to have something “fresh”.

I’m going to try to take a vacation from my “virtual” life and attend to “real” life issues. So I may not be around until about 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. ;) See ya!
