Fritz - Post Molt

Fritz - Perlatus - Post Molt - Canon 10D

I mentioned that Fritz, one of my Straws, didn’t have such a good molt. He has some deformations on two of his walking legs. He’s having a bit of trouble getting around, he had a hard time getting out of the pool with his shell on, so he went naked. I removed his shell from the pool and put it by him and he quickly reshelled. I put him in the food dish and he chowed down. Hopefully, once he either gets used to his new walking legs or drops them if they’re bothering him too much he will be able to move around better.

I can’t explain why this happened and I’m not going to begin to try. We just don’t know enough. What is interesting is that one of my other straws, Purdy, molted days before and came up perfect. She was bought at the same time from the same store as Fritz, has lived in the same tank, eaten the same food, and molted in the same substrate. Sometimes there is just no rhyme or reason why these things happen.
