Monster is my largest hermit crab, he’s a jumbo (but, not as big as I’ve seen them).

How big is your crab? You can use the hermit crab sizing chart here http://lennon.csufresno.edu/~esperance31/HermitCrabSizingChartV2.doc or the measurements below:

Jumbo - over 3″
Large - 3″
Med. - 2.5″
Small - 1.5″
Teeny - 1″
Micro - .5″

How much space should each of your crabs have in a tank?

Jumbo - 5 gal each
Large - 4 gal each
Med. - 3 gal each
Small - 2 gal each
Teeny/micro - 1 gal each

Land Hermit Crabs can grow as big as a cantaloupe in the wild, and up to the size of a baseball in captivity if they are kept in an optimal environment with sufficient nutrition, exercise, seashells and environment. How big a hermit crab will grow is often dependent on the availability of seashells.
